Ranking the Top 5 Books in the Bible
If you're not reading these 5 books, you're doing something wrong
Did you know that some books in the Bible are actually better than others? It’s true. Studies show that if you read these books, you’ll be a better Christian than other Christians. And I know being better than everybody else is a high value for Christians. Let’s not talk about that too much though because duh, humility.
#5: 3 John
3 John is one of the best books in the Bible because it’s the shortest. When Chad from church is bragging about how he is reading the Bible in a year, you can be one step ahead of Chad at all times by reading the shortest books in the Bible. Then you can brag to Chad about how many books in the Bible you’ve read so far this year and he will be sad Chad.
#4: Book of Revelation
Revelation is one of the best books in the Bible because it is simply absolutely bonkers. Like seriously, have you read it lately? Who needs sci-fi movies when Revelation is just chilling in the back of the Bible? Amazing plot. Highly recommend. It is also important if you’re concerned about how the world is going to end or if you want to know what Heaven might be like, but the plot is really what gets this one in the Top 5.
#3: Haggai
Haggai was rated one of the best books because when everyone in your church community is reading basic books like Paul’s epistles (1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, etc.) you can stand out by having verses from Haggai memorized which will make everyone more impressed with you. This is particularly important when you want to garner attention from the pastoral staff and show them that you’re ready for more (paid) opportunities at the church.
#2: Ephesians
Ephesians makes the Top 5 because it’s genuinely an incredible book. Fantastic read for your walk with Christ.
Dishonorable Mention
Before we get to the long-awaited reveal for what book ranks in the #1 slot, let’s take a look at one dishonorable mention: Job.
It is worth noting that Job is definitely not in the Top 5 Books of the Bible because it completely goes against everything that Joel Osteen teaches. Also, it’s pronounced Jobe, and they totally spelled it wrong. Which is misleading if you’re looking for guidance on finding a job. I’m not speaking from experience or anything, but it was a complete waste of time.
#1: Song of Solomon
Song of Solomon obviously ranks at #1 because… if you know you know.
There you have it folks! The definitive list of the Top 5 Books in the Bible according to data-based research. No need to look up the research study. It’s not out yet. You can just trust me. If this ranking was helpful for you in your read-the-Bible-in-a-year plan, let me know in the comments!
[Disclaimer: This piece is solely a work of comedy. The Bible is God’s love letter to the world. Every book is living and active (Hebrews 4:12) and the Lord uses it to speak to us, heal us, teach us, and transform us. If you haven’t read the Bible yet and are looking for a place to start, you can start in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). Seriously, it will change your life. I’m actually not kidding about that. And always be one step ahead of Chad.]
