The bank of the lake kept coming up to kiss me. She slapped and wailed against the roots and trunks of trees. I looked up from my book, it's cover now dripping, giving her the proper attention. I remember what is was like to be ignored when asking to be seen.
The wind blew with such vigor I felt as though I was in a John Steinbeck novel. Not that I could recall Of Mice and Men if you paid me.
Have you ever seen Spanish moss dancing on dozens of trees? Have you ever heard their song? I smiled. I couldn't remember the last time I had been in the midst of a great wind. My hair blowing uncomfortably over my nose, the comfortable breeze piercing through the hot summer air, the loud roar of it all.
Oh look, a feather, stuck to my foot, I thought to myself.
I hope I have more days like this, I prayed.
You will.
Peace. Surprise. The Lord's voice so quick, so unexpected. Nearly interrupting me.
You don't have to speak to me right now, Lord. I half chuckled to myself, to Him. There have been many other times I've craved Your voice. Moments in life much more dire and important than this one. I'll probably forget today ever happened.
Yet still the Lord was with me, in me, always, I was reminded. Even in my most quiet, seemingly insignificant of hours. Me, perhaps, not at all insignificant to Him.

"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Galations 2:20
"O LORD, you have searched me and known me!
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.
You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.
You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.
Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me." Psalm 139:1-10
